Plastic Surgery Statistics for Men

“My approach to male facial rejuvenation and body sculpting is this: by enhancing your appearance, it will greatly facilitate confidence and the youthful look you desire, the results looking natural and untreated. I also focus on the importance of a unified self-improvement program. This includes proper nutrition, exercise, and good daily living habits, optimizing results both physically and psychologically.”
Dr. James Lyons

The American Society of Plastic Surgery Notes:

“With our society’s emphasis on appearance, cosmetic surgery is no longer a luxury for women only. There is a dramatic rise in cosmetic procedures among a male population who also wants to look and feel good about themselves. This holds true especially in today’s marketplace where looking youthful can give a man the edge in the business world. Today, men of all ages are seeking facial procedures that range from facelifts to eye lifts to simple skin improvement. Body image is also a growing focus with men. They seek treatment for liposuction of their love handles or to rid themselves of the “man breasts” that have bothered them for so long. With the many options available today, both invasive and non-invasive, these procedures can be performed with minimal downtown and a speedy return to work and the gym.”

Press Release on New ASPS Statistics Show Sizeable Increases in Facelifts and Other Surgical Procedures for Men:

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – Statistics released today by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) show that more men are going under the knife. Overall cosmetic plastic surgery procedures in men were up 2 percent in 2010 compared to 2009. However, many male surgical procedures increased significantly. Facelifts for men rose 14 percent in 2010 while male liposuction increased 7 percent.

2010 ASPS statistics show that men underwent more than 1.1 million cosmetic procedures, both minimally-invasive and surgical. The majority of the Men’s Top 10 fastest-growing cosmetic procedures are surgical, which bucks the previous trend of growth in minimally-invasive treatments. “The growth in cosmetic surgical procedures for men may be a product of our aging baby boomers who are now ready to have plastic surgery,” said ASPS President Phillip Haeck, MD. “Minimally-invasive procedures such as Botox® and soft tissue fillers work to a point. However, as you age and gravity takes over, surgical procedures that lift the skin are necessary in order to show significant improvement.”
